SPF 70

For the last year or so, we have been planning a trip to Aruba with Chris' parents. Our original plan was to have someone watch Landon while we were gone, but it didn't work out and...he went with us. We left last Thursday and returned yesterday (Thursday). I was a bit nervous taking Landon on the plane seeing as it was his first time. He surprised us all. He did wonderful. I have to say both there and back, we were lucky enough to have had an empty seat in our row so that he could lay down and sleep. We didn't purchase a seat for him on the plane, so we lucked out having an empty seat. He was a trooper and I couldn't have asked him to be any better. When we arrived in Aruba, we got settled and headed down to the beach to watch the sunset. It was amazing. So perfect. What was priceless was watching Landon put his feet in the ocean for the first time. He loves the ocean. We brought a pool float for infants with us and he sat in while the waves did the rest of the work. We would play in the ocean, then in the sand, then in the pool. Back and forth. The sun is so hot in Aruba, you really have to prepare yourself with sunblock and/ or a hat. We were prepared. I was so nervous Landon was going to get burned. I was sure there wasn't going to be a sunblock that would protect him. Come to find out, there is. How about SPF 70. Yep. SPF 70; also known as Elmer's glue, it is SO thick) The best thing ever made for a fair skinned little boy like Landon. All I can say is, the other people on the beach weren't wearing their sun glasses to block the sun. They were preparing themselves for when Landon's T-shirt came off; it's blinding. Needless to say, when you look at Landon, one wouldn't guess he had been in Aruba for a week. We pretty much made a routine of the week and just spending time on the beach and at the pool. Landon LOVES the pool. He even went down a water slide with Chris and went under and under and under and under the waterfall there in the pool. He got so brave, that we really had to watch him. Once, Mark was in the pool and I had just pulled Landon out and I turned my head and Landon is trying to jump into the pool. Mark caught him and then it became a game. He even went under a few times and just popped back up and was ready to jump in again. He had his face in the water as much as he did his feet. We rented a car for a day and went around Aruba to visit some main attractions. There was a really pretty lighthouse called the "california lighthouse", we saw a little 15th century chapel; it was beautiful. But our favorite was the "natural bridge". The bridge fell a couple of years ago but the surrounding beach and rock is awesome. The waves that day were incredible. I think Landon could have sat an watched the waves all day. Later in the week, Chris and I rode some Jet Skiis and we had a blast! My jet ski reached 65 miles an hour. It was amazing to ride so far out that you could see the different shades of teal of the ocean. Finally Thursday came and it was time to leave. We had an amazing time, but we are glad to be back home and safe and ready for our own bed. Landon went to bed at 6:30. He just couldn't take it anymore and really needs to catch up on his sleep. The plane ride back was a little more rough that on the way there. Landon just couldn't get comfy and he got sick on the first part of the trip; Aruba to Charolette. But we are home and I think he is glad to be back in his bed. I hope you enjoy the pictures. If it's too fast or too slow for you, I think you can click on the "stop" button and just manually click the pictures as you please. I got a few things on video as well, but I will just post a couple of our favorites. Hope everyone is doing well and we look forward to seeing most of you around the holidays.

love,
Jennifer
