For the last year or so, we have been planning a trip to Aruba with Chris' parents. Our original plan was to have someone watch Landon while we were gone, but it didn't work out and...he went with us. We left last Thursday and returned yesterday (Thursday). I was a bit nervous taking Landon on the plane seeing as it was his first time. He surprised us all. He did wonderful. I have to say both there and back, we were lucky enough to have had an empty seat in our row so that he could lay down and sleep. We didn't purchase a seat for him on the plane, so we lucked out having an empty seat. He was a trooper and I couldn't have asked him to be any better. When we arrived in Aruba, we got settled and headed down to the beach to watch the sunset. It was amazing. So perfect. What was priceless was watching Landon put his feet in the ocean for the first time. He loves the ocean. We brought a pool float for infants with us and he sat in while the waves did the rest of the work. W...

Happy Birthday To Me!

Image
November 17th, Landon celebrated his first birthday. What a big man! We had so much fun watching him on Saturday. We had a small party for him here in Fort Wayne. On Friday the 16th, my good friend Emily and her Husband and son Ethan came up to help me prepare and give the boys a chance to play together. Ethan is 3 months older than Landon, so you can imagine how busy our house was on Friday. They had a blast and Landon slept very well on Saturday, his birthday. So well, in fact that he slept in until 9:00 and then took a nap from 10:00-12:00. We had to wake him up because the guests for his party had arrived and the party was to start at 12:00. He came downstairs from his nap and to his surprise, more than just Ethan was waiting for him. He was a little shy at first and then the party began. We had lunch and then his cake. He wasn't too interested in getting messy, but Ethan soon followed and showed him how it was done. Two hands to the mouth. But Landon used a spoon and decided...

catch up

Image
I usually only post once a month, but we've been up to so much, I need to catch up. Where do I begin? Landon is pretty much walking; I would say 90% of the time. When he falls down, he can't stand up on his own, so he crawls to something that he can pull himself up on. He is doing SO well. We went trick-or-treating on Halloween and it was pretty fun. We only went to a few houses, seeing that he is so young, but he got the hang of holding out his basket and understood that the person at the door would drop something in it. He seemed to think that he was to get ALL that was in the giver's basket, so with some encouragement, we were able to distract him and move on to the next house. Let's see, what else. Landon and I are taking a "mommy and me" swim class at the Y.M.C.A. Landon LOVES the water; takes after his daddy. I suppose you could consider it swim lessons. They teach the babies (6 months-2 years) to move their arms and kick their legs and jump off the sid...

I just can't believe that here in just a few short weeks, Landon will be turning one. Unbelievable. As for the past few weeks, we have just been absorbing all the new things that Landon has mastered...well, maybe not mastered but rather, attempted. Landon can now say "uh-oh". He does this so well, that it has become a little game. He likes to throw things just so he can say "uh-oh" or hear Chris or I say it. He recieved his very first pair of shoes. Yes, he has worn shoes before now, but there are his first pair of "big-boy walking shoes". He is still trying to get used to walking in them, but he practices. He is not walking all the time, he is still learning and working up the courage. He practices a little everyday. He has learned to clap his hands. Of course Chris and I have been clapping our hands at every "amazing" new step he reaches; I mean of course EVERYTHING he does is "amazing". He just decided the other day that if he ...

Taking Steps

Image
"Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body." ~ Elizabeth Stone~ I am having just the best time with Landon. He is changing SO much everyday. I'm not quite sure I can keep up with everything. He decided today that he had the courage to take a few steps. Very exciting to see him become so independent right before my eyes. The best part was that Chris just happened to be home today, so we got to see it together. It was a very cool moment for both Chris and I. After he took those first few steps, he just seems to want to stand up wherever he is and try and try again. He usually falls within a few steps, but he's REALLY trying. When we are out and about and I am holding him, he would rather hold my hand and walk. He is also very good at pointing. He points to everything he wants or just whatever he wants me to look at. When I say "where is Lily?" he points to her. When I say ...

Nine Months

Image
Well, here we are at nine months. Landon is doing well. He had his nine month check-up and he is 21 pounds and about 30 inches tall. He just doesn't stop growing. We are all just having the best time together. Landon is really starting to show is sense of humor and character and it's one that we are just so in love with. He talks alot (though we aren't quite sure what he is saying) his eyes and eyebrows tell us how important everything is. He has been trying to say "more" when he is eating, which he loves to do. He can make a "muh" sound and points. He pretty much eats what we do, with in reason of a few things that he is too young to have. This makes it nice because we can all three eat dinner together. Landon has become pretty good at feeding himself. Now,when I say feed himself I don't mean that he starts with his salad fork and works his way in toward the plate; he uses only his fingers and if what's on his plate is REALLY good, possibly a ha...
