Catch Up!

I can't believe how much time has past since I've posted. Yikes! This may just be a long one so hang on.
We celebrated Alexa's first birthday with our close family and friends, but not all that we would have loved to celebrate with us. We want to thank everyone that did and was able to make it! We had a great time celebrating our Alexa. I didn't take a ton of pictures, but did get some of her eating her cupcake and boy did she know exactly what to do!

She is starting to show some interest in walking. She has taken up to six steps at a time, but no more and don't even think about trying to prompt her. She wants to do it all on her own and in her own time. I wonder what that means about her personality. Could be a good thing in many situations I can imagine. It amazes me though seeing how risky she is when it comes to climbing on something, she doesn't even look back in fear. But walking is a whole different situation. You can really tell she is thinking about it and when she doesn't feel confident enough, she falls to her knees and does what she does best, crawls. I will try and get her steps on video soon, if she'll let me. Until then, here is her famous funny face. Too cute!

Landon. My dear Landon.

He sure has taken us on a journey this past month with his allergy scare and his behavior. We are just really trying to figure our little man and support him as best we can with his needs. Man, I feel like I've said that before. We are trying some new things as far as discipline and parenting and it seems to be going pretty well. The challenge we have is that Landon comprehends things very well and talks to us like he's ten years old, which is NOT something we were prepared for seeing that he is only three. Finding the means of discipline and directing him to be a well rounded little boy is hard when the words that come out of his mouth and the behavior that accompanies doesn't match the three year old temper tantrums that are thrown. This can make for some really confused parents with frustration and exhaustion. Through this hiccup we are facing, there still is a very sweet little boy that we couldn't be happier loving and growing as his parents. There isn't a day that goes by that he doesn't make us laugh. One of the "new" things we are trying is to work on our "bathroom talk". When I say we, I mean the boys in this family. Boys will be boys and it's gone too far in some cases and we are using Vinegar to remind ourselves that sometimes, things just don't need to be talked about. Especially poop! Yes, to a three year old boy, it can be funny to talk about and find creative ways to make it funny, but no more. We had to use the Vinegar two times and the "bathroom talk" has stopped. I don't even have to threaten him with it. However, we (and I mean Chris and I) are working on not saying words like "freak'n" and "heck" because you already know who is also adopting those words into his vocabulary. The other day, Landon came up to me and said, "what in the freak'n heck is going on with this thing". OH MY WORD!!!! I called Chris right away and told him some changes needed to be made. So, Landon told Chris when he got home, "mommy said we can't say 'heck' anymore or we get Vinegar". Low and behold, not a few minutes later, Chris said "heck" and you better believe someone was close by and on alert. "Mommy. Daddy just said 'heck'. Can I put Vinegar in his mouth?" I look at Chris with a smile on my face and said, "Sure!". Chris rolled his eyes and made his way to the kitchen and like a trooper, let Landon put the Vinegar on his tongue. I genuinely asked Chris how it tasted and he said it wasn't bad, then Chris remember that Landon was standing there and said, "I mean, it's terrible! Yuck! That tastes aweful!" Chris and I both got a laugh out of it!
We just love our Landon with all our hearts. Or as Landon would say Pre-Vinegar "...with all my fart". Sorry, but you gotta laugh!.
On a positive note: Landon is following in his Daddy's footsteps and LOVES to help clean. No, this was not for punishment, but because Landon literally begged us to help clean the toilet. Go figure!

And last but not least, Chris went out of town to French Lick for a sales meeting. They had an 80's night where they had to dress up in some sort of 80's outfit. Here was Chris before the wig and here is Chris with the wig. Too funny. I laughed so hard, I was crying! Gosh he looks so goofy!

LOL at Chris!!! That's hilarious!!! And dead on. Where on earth did he find those jeans? Too bad he couldn't borrow Randy's stone-washed knee length trench coat. :)
